Looking Back Two Weeks

It is hard to believe the boys arrived in the U.K. Only two weeks ago. Thanks to Hikaru's family for this picture and blog post. When he left, this little girl said she wanted him to stay for a whole year.

Hikaru's arrival

 

After a very long journey we welcomed Hikaru into our home, expecting him to be very tired and quiet.

 

But we were wrong, he arrived with plenty of energy and we had lots of conversation with him over dinner.

 

Hikaru gave us some lovely gifts from Japan. Henry loves the xylophone and Emily's rabbit repeats everything she says, so it quickly became her favorite toy! 

 

We were also treated to an origami lesson and made swans, which Emily proudly took into nursery to show her class the next day.

Good Bye And Thank You

 The boys are now on their way back to Japan. They have had a wonderful time in Marlborough, thanks to their great attitude and energy. we enjoyed having them here. Thanks are also due to their wonderful host families who have again provided Tokai students with such a great home from home. Without their kindness, none of this would be possible. Well done, everybody!

In the Classroom

This week, thee were fewer students taking English in the mornings. They shared a class with students of many nationalities.

Chopsticks

Ryo and Yukihiro taught their host family how to use chopsticks!

The Spinnaker in Portsmouth

Ryo was taken to visit The Spinnaker with his host family. It is a tall building overlooking Portsmouth on the south coast. What a great view!

Paint-balling

This week's On Target group went paint-balling yesterday.

Wall Climbing

The Teenage Outdoors group spent an afternoon on the climbing wall, learning to rock-climb. They did really well!

Bouncing Boys

Thanks to their homestay family, Yuichi and Tsuyoshi had such fun at a Trampoline and Parkour centre.

The Archers

As part of the On Target group, the boys did archery on the cricket pitch.

The Tea Ceremony

Part of the purpose of studying abroad is to spread knowledge of Japanese culture. We were very happy to get this lovely message today from Hayami's family:

We are delighted to have Hayami staying with us and it will be really sad to see him leave on Saturday.Today he treated us and some of our friends to a Japanese tea ceremony and we all enjoyed it so much. He also brought over some special Japanese red bean cookies to eaten with the matcha tea.

How wonderful!

Bouncy Castles!

Last night, the evening activity was playing on bouncy castles. Even though they are teenagers, everybody enjoyed themselves.

New Activities

After a busy weekend the boys were still excited to start their new activities. Some of them are still doing English classes in the morning but many are doing new activities in the morning and the afternoon. Some of the boys did teenage outdoor activities and had to get through an obstacle course. They made some friends from Italy along the way. Others did clay pigeon shooting and others played squash with each other and with some of their international friends. It's great to see that so many boys are eager to speak English and meet new people.

The Life of Yuichi and Tsuyoshi

Some lovely pictures from the life of Yuichi and Tsuyoshi. Like all the boys in Marlborough, they are now fully settled into their homes and very much enjoying life. They will be sad to leave in four days time. The family took them on a trip to Bath, the historic Roman town. They had a great day out.
